Holey-Moley Digger Hole Reamer Assembled
For those that require an enlarged hole for burying an 8-inch cache tube or for sinking an 8-inch casing for 6-inch cache tubes, or sinking an 8-inch casing for shallow wells, the Holey-Moley Digger Hole Reamer Assembled provides a quick and easy method of enlarging 6-inch holes out to approximately 9-inches. The reamer has 8 custom made steel blades attached to a 10-inch section of 6-inch PVC sewer pipe. This is the same pipe used as the Holey-Moley Digger backbone.
How To Use
The Holey-Moley Digger Hole Reamer is ready to use. You can ream while digging a 6-inch hole for better side uniformity, or you can ream afterwards. The reamer mates to the digger pipe using the extra coupling that comes in the digger kit. The digger head then attaches to the end of the reamer. You can then ream while digging. A periodic lifting of the digger lets the reamed cuttings fall into the hole for extraction with the vacuum. Reaming a completed hole is a very fast process as the dirt just falls into the hole.
To ream a 6-inch hole, you attach the reamer to the digger as described above using the digger head as a hole guide. Another 6-inch coupling on the end will act as a guide going down the hole. Reaming a hole is extremely fast compared to digging the 6-inch hole because the dirt falls down into the hole. After reaming use the vacuum hose to remove the reamed cuttings and to clean out the hole. With normal soils and compact soils you can ream a five foot hole to 9-inches in a couple of minutes, much less than digging the original hole. For a cleaner hole sidewall, ream while digging. For a faster dig, ream after the 6-inch hole is dug. The hole sidewall will be a bit more ragged in this case.
